"Born and raised in Billville Texas, sir." I said.
"I'd like you to meet my son." He said.
"Oh." I giggled. "I actually have a boyfriend already."
"I ain't askin' ya to marry him." He said.
"I say we get down to business." I said.
"Alright." He said leaning back in the chair.
"Okay." I said puting a chart in front of him. "Here are our rates."
"Wow!" He said. "You are quite expensive."
"Sir, I assure you that the work we do will suit you just fine and it will be done within a very timely fashion." I said.
"Fashion?" He asked.
I smiled. "With flying colors."
He laughed. "Well, I can't afford you." He stood up.
"We could make your study look amazing." I told him.
"Tell me what you do exactly." He said.
"Well, first I'll ask you for your measurements." I said.
"You're too sweet to be talkin' so dirty." He said, then let out a chuckle.
I suddenly felt very uncomfortable with him. I ignored it and went on. "Once I know the size of your room and the layout of it, I will start looking for ideas, I'll share them with you, then get to work on the room." I said.
"Right down to business, hu?" He said.
"I'm strictly professional." I said.
"Strictly?" He asked. "Why not mildly?" He winked at me.
"Are you in?" I asked.
"You wish, darlin." He said winking again. He stood up and walked out of my office.
"That guy was a creep!" I said to Jamie as I watched him walk out.
"Ew I know. I heard him!" She said.
"Gross! I feel violated." I said shaking.

The rest of the day went by so fast. No one was as crazy as the first guy. I was glad when it was time to go home. All I could think about was relaxing in a hot bath. When I got home there was a tie on the door knob.
“Are you kidding me?” I asked to myself. David and I used to joke about doing that if we had people over. I tried to unlock the door, but he had the inside deadbolt on.
“Damn it!” I said, and kicked the door. Which was a bad idea since I was wearing heals. I hurt my toe, and scuffed my shoe. I sat down on the steps and called Todd. No answer.
My phone rang as I was putting in my purse, and I jumped. I didn’t recognize the number.
“Hello?” I answered.
“Ella May!” Someone shouted.
“Hello?” I asked.
“It’s Ricky! Ricky Rum!” He shouted.
“Oh. Hi.” I said, confused.
“Your secretary gave me this number. I just bought a house, and I need yer help. It’s an emergency.” He said.
“What are you talking about Ricky?” I asked.
“I bought a brand new house. Just built. NO previous decorating. It’s a blank slate, and I need your help. Ya do decorate, don’t ya?” He asked.
“Uh, yeah. You can set up an appointment with Jaime at the office-“
“Nope. Can’t wait. Here is the address, come and meet me.” He said.
“Ricky, it’s 6:30-“
He didn’t lisen. He rattled off the address, then said he’d see me soon.
“Are you KIDDING?” I shouted, when I hung up. I looked up at the tie on the door knob. “Guess I’ve got some time to kill.” I muttered to myself, then got up and drove to meet Ricky.

"I can not get over how refined you look." Ricky shouted as I pulled up in his driveway. "Lookit this peice of machinery." He walked around my car with an amazed look on his face.
"Right." I said.
"You ready to make a lot of money, darlin?" He asked.
"Sure." I said.
"Well come on in. Check out my place." He said. "Take yer shoes off."
I slipped off my heels and stepped into the house. It was very spacious and elegent looking. I pictured what the front room would look like if it were my house. I smiled.
"So, I was thinkin' stuffed shit I've killed on the walls." He said.
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"I got some shit I've killed and had stuffed." He said. "Like coyotes and shit."
"Oh my god." I said under my breath. I sighed.
"Or you can fancy it all up." He said. "I trust yer taste."
"My taste wouldn't include any stuffed shit you've killed hung on the walls." I said.
He laughed. "It was just an idea."
"Good." I said. "Give me a tour."
"I guess I should start leavin' some a that country lifestyle behind." He said.
"That's up to you. I can do whatever you want, but I'll be honest with you about what is just plain tacky. Such as dead animals on your wall." I said.

He looked upset, and I laughed.
“Does this place have a basement? “ I asked.
“Sure does.” He said.
“How about making a study or something? I can put the dead shit in there.” I said.
“YEAH! I was thinking the third bedroom could be a study. Could you make it like a lodge?” He asked.
“Absolutely.” I said. He looked excited and I giggled.
“Dear or dear.” I muttered to myself.
“What was that?” He asked.
“Oh nothin.” I said. He did end up having a huge basement.
“Wow. I think this could be a game room or something. I could put a bar in over here.” I said, pointing to a corner.
“Really? That would be terrific.” He said. He seemed so excited by all my ideas. I couldn’t help but laugh at him.

Sarah said...

"You're very talented, Ella May." He said.
"It's Ella." I said.
"Oh sorry." He said. "Ella."
I smiled.
"Well, you've got yourself some great ideas and I look forward to seein' 'em." He said.
"Thanks. You won't be disapointed." I said.
"I'll walk you out." He said.
I nodded. He followed me out the door to my car. I got in and waved as I pulled away. I drove back to the apartment hoping the tie wasn't still on the door. I prayed as I walked up the steps. "You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!" I said when I saw the tie STILL on the door!
"David!" I said pounding on the door. "David!!"
"One second!" He yelled.
I stood there for two minutes before he opened the door. He was in his boxers and he was all sweaty. "Sorry." He whispered.
"Yeah." I said frustrated. I started to walk by him and he grabbed my hand. He pulled me close to him and gave me a hug.
"Um, ew. . ." I said when I felt his warm sweat on my arms and neck.
"This won't happen again." He said. "Enos leaves tomorrow, so we wanted to spend a nice night together."
"Yeah. Looks like you had a real romantic night." I said looking at him.
He smiled. "I didn't say romantic. I said nice."
"Well, I'm off to bed." I said.
"Ella, wait." He said softly.
"David, go take a shower." I said.
"Can't we talk for a second?" He asked.
I sighed. "What do you want to talk about?"
"Ice cream?" He asked.
I gave him a strange look. Ice cream meant something big was up.
I nodded. "Sure." I was so confused. "Take a quick shower and I'll get ready for bed."
"Okay." He said. He looked upset suddenly. I just smiled at him and went to my room. I changed into my pajama's, threw my hair up in a pony tail and went back out to the living room. I scooped some ice cream into a couple big mugs and sat down at the kitchen table with the light dimmed. He walked in a few minutes later and sat down at the table across from me.
"So, what's up?" I asked pushing his ice cream in front of him.
He took a bite and his eyes started to tear up. I just looked at him and waited for him to start talking.
"I don't want Enos to go. . ." He said.
"I'm sorry, sweetie." I said as I placed my hand over his.
"Pretty dumb hu?" He said swallowing hard.
"No." I said. "It's not dumb at all."
"Ella, I've known him for what? A week?" He asked.
"So."
He just shrugged.
"It's too soon to move in together, but it's not too soon for you to miss him when he goes back home." I said.
He wiped his eyes and took a deep breath. He leaned back in his chair staring at the ceiling. I stood up and took his hand. "Get up. We're watching Weekend At Bernies." I said smiling.
"You hate that movie." He said.
"I don't hate." I said.
He laughed. "Yeah. You do."
"Come on." I wined.
He stood up. We grabbed our ice cream and sat down on the couch. I turned on the movie. He put his ice cream down and sprawled out on the couch with his head in my lap.
"It'll be hard to say goodbye, but you'll be fine." I said. "And as always, I'm here if you need ANYTHING."
"I love you." He said.
"Love you too." I said.
About a half hour into the movie, he was asleep in my lap. I tried to get up slowly, but it ended up waking him up anyway.
"Hey." He said softly.
"Enos is still here right?" I asked.
"Yeah. He fell asleep right before you got here." He said.
"Oh okay. Well, you should get to bed." I said. I leaned down and gave him a hug. He squeezed me tight. I kissed him on the cheek and went to bed.

I got up the next morning, and went right into the office. I found my file for the Jenkinsons, then took Jaime with me to their house. They lived in the same neighborhood as Todd. Fortunately, they were a lot easier to deal with then Missy was. They were a very pleasant older couple that had worked very hard for their money. They were both recently retired, and had just bought this house. I was lucky to get to decorate it for them. They had a big iron gate, and I had to enter the four digit security code. The gate buzzed, then opened.
“I wish I could have a house this nice one day.” Jaime said, looking around as we drove down the horseshoe driveway.
“So do I.” I said. I parked, and walked up to the door. When I rang the doorbell a very tall man answered the door.
“Hello, Ella with-“ I started to say.
“Yes, yes. Come in.” He said.
“Let me just get Leanne.” He said, and disappeared.

Sarah said...

"Wow." Jamie said looking around.
"I know. It's so nice." I said.
We all sat down in the kitchen and Leanne poured us all some hot tea.
"So, what kinds of styles are you looking for?" I asked.
"We have a lot of things in storage that we'd like to work with." Leanne said. "We're Greek, so we've got all kinds of neat things, but we need help with where to put things and we want to get new furniture and curtains. All that good stuff."
"I think we can help you there." Jamie said.
"We sure can." I said.
Jamie and I pulled out our day planners to schedule our next few appointments with them.

Christina said...

Leanne was such a pleasant woman. She was so full of energy too. And she was full of stories about her family, which sounded like it was very large, and very amusing. When we were done, we left and drove back to the office.
“Wow. I love that woman. She is so funny!” Jaime said.
“I know! I can’t wait to work with her.” I said. I had a couple more appointments with clients that morning. After lunch I decided to call my mom to see how Pops was doing. My heart was beating really fast, and I felt nervous. I wasn’t sure if everyone was mad because of how I left.

Sarah said...

"Hello?"
I sighed. It was Henry.
"Henry, it's Ella May." I said. "Just calling to see how Pa was doing."
"Well, holy sheep shit." He said.
"Just tell me how Pa's doin'." I said.
"He's fine. No thanks to you. Carry on with yer new life." He said and hung up.
"Hey, Jamie, I'm gonna head home." I said as I gathered my things.
"Have a good one!" She said. I walked to my car and went home. I opened the door and saw David standing there buttoning up his shirt. Some guy was standing next to him. "Call me later." The guy said. He smiled at me as he walked by me and out the door.
"David?" I asked.
"That was Josh. Remember him from college?" He asked.
"No."
"Josh Carter. I had a crush on him. Remember? I ran into him this morning at the coffee shop." He said.
"What the hell are you doing?" I asked.
"I don't know." He said shrugging.
"I think I'm gonna stay at Todds tonight." I said.
"Why? Stay here. We'll watch movies." He said.
"Why did you take a guy home?" I asked. "Did you and Enos break up?"
"Enos isn't here!" He shouted looking really upset.
"Yeah. I know that!" I shouted back. "That doesn't mean you can do whatever you want! He is still your boyfreind!"
"You don't know what it's like." He said. "You have no idea. You're relationship history is, well non existent. You don't have one!"
"Excuse me. That does not mean I don't know what is or isn't appropriate." I said.
"It's not like I cheated. I just kissed him." He said.
"Yeah. It didn't go further, because I walked in." I said.
"I wasn't going to do anything else." He said.
"Is that why your shirt was half off?" I asked.
He sighed.
"You can do whatever you want with your life, Davey." I said. "But when you choose to do something like this, I'm not going to sit here and pretend it's a good choice."
"I know. . ." He said.
"I'm gonna stay with Todd tonight." I said.
"Fine Ella." He said. He went back to his room and slammed the door.

Christina said...

My phone rang.
“Hello?”
“Hey, it’s me.” Todd said.
“Hey, I was just going to call you.” I told him.
“Come see my Condo. I just got furniture and stuff for it today. You gotta come see it!” He said, sounding so excited.
“Let me change into something more comfortable, and I’ll head over.” I told him.
“HURRY! I can’t jump on this huge bed by myself!” He shouted. I giggled, and hung up. I went and changed, and then called Todd back to get directions. I got to the Condo, and he was outside waiting for me.
“Come on, come on, come on!!” He said, and grabbed my hand. We ran inside.

Sarah said...

"Oh wow cool!" I said.
"Do you like it?" He asked.
"Yes." I laughed. He was being so cute!
He wripped all of his clothes off.
"Whoa." I said.
He laughed. "I can walk around naked all I want now." He said.
"You're silly." I said.
"And you can walk around my house naked all you want too." He said.
I giggled.
"Well, try it out." He said.
"No. I don't want to." I said.
"Don't be so shy." He said. "After you walk around MY house naked, then we can break in ALL the rooms."
I just laughed. "No."

Christina said...

“Please?” He asked, pouting.
“NO!” I shouted, and laughed. I jumped at me, and I ran away. He ran after me, so I ran into his room, and shut the door. I was amazed he had all his stuff unpacked already. He ran into the door, and knocked me back when he pushed through. Then he tackled me and started trying to kiss me.
“NO!” I said, laughing.
“YES!” He shouted, and tickled me. I squeeled, and he let go.
“Aw, come on.” He said, sitting up.
“No. Lets do something else right now.” I said. I kept laughing because he was still naked. He stood up and started walking out.
“Todd, wait!” I shouted. He turned around, and I pulled my shirt off.
“Now, you’re talking!” He said, and walked over to help me out of the rest of my clothes.

Sarah said...

"Happy?" I asked as I pranced around the condo naked.
"Okay, now which room first?" He asked.
"Bathroom." I said.
"Shower?" He asked.
"No. . ." I said.
"Toilet?" He asked.
"No!" I said. "I was thinking the counter, dork."
"How daring." He teased.
"Having sex on a toilet is daring?" I asked.
"Well, no."
"Okay then." I said laughing. I heard my phone ringing in my purse. I ignored it, but it rang again. I ran out to it and answered it.
"Is this Ella?" A lady asked.
"Yes."
"David has been in a car accident. You are the first name on his cell phone." She said. I started crying right away. I couldn't even listen to the rest of what she said. "Where is he?" I asked.
"Bossier Hospital." She said. "He was rushed there for emergency surgery on his leg."
"Oh my god." I said.

Christina said...

"What's wrong?" Todd asked.
"David was in an accident. Can youd drive me to the hospital?" I asked.
"Yeah, lets go." He said. We both got dressed then spead to the hospital. We got to the emergancy room and I asked for David.
"He is still in sergery." the lady at the front desk said. "Let me show you how to get to the correct waiting room." She pulled out a map and showed me how to get there.
"Thanks." I said. Todd put his arm around me and we ran to the waiting room.

Sarah said...

We sat there for hours. I called EVERYONE to let them know what was going on and most of them were on their way to the hospital, including Enos. He said he was going to get on the first flight he could to Delaware. David's Mom, Lisa came running into the waiting room. She looked like a wreck.
"How is my baby?" She asked. She looked like she had been crying. I gave her a hug.
"He's going to be fine." I said not really knowing and trying my hardest to stay calm.
"I called Christopher. He should be here soon." She said. "And Daniel."
"Wait, Daniel?" I asked.
Christopher was his brother and Daniel was his ex boyfriend. "His current boyfriend, Enos is on his way from Texas." I said.
"He has a new boyfriend?" She asked.
"Oh dear." I said.
"My own son. My own son doesn't tell me anything!" She said. She sat down.
"Let me get you guys some coffees." Todd said.
"One cream, one sugar." She said.
I sat down next to her.
"Ella!" I heard a girl shout. I turned around. It was Tina. Rob and Sam were right behind her.
"Is he okay?" Sam asked as he gave me a hug.
I just shrugged.
"What happened, sweetie?" Tina asked.
"I have no idea." I said. "We've been sitting here for hours and haven't heard a thing."
"Ella?" A nurse asked as she walked into the waiting room.
We all jumped up. "I'm Ella." I said.
"I've got some good news and bad news." She said.
I nodded trying not to cry.
"The surgery went well. He's alert. He's talking and joking." She said. "But, he has internal bleeding, so we're gonna have to keep an eye on him. It looks minor, but it IS a serious situation."
"Okay, what does this mean?" Lisa asked.
"It means he needs a lot of rest and 24/7 supervision." She told her.
Lisa started to cry.
"None of us even know what happen!" Tina shouted.
"I'm his Mother." Lisa told the nurse.
"Let me speek to you and Ella." She said.
We followed the nurse down the hall. "He was hit by a car on his motorcycle." She explained.
"Motorcycle? He doesn't have a motorcycle." I said.
"He said it was his friends." She said. "He is pretty beat up. He is full of scrapes and bruises."
"Where is he?" We heard. We all looked back. It was Daniel.
"You three can come on in and see him. I ask that only three at a time come in." The nurse said.
I was so frustrated that Daniel was there. I was pretty sure that he was the last person David would want to see.
"Why are you here?" I asked Daniel.
"As much as you don't want to beleive it, I do care about him." He said to me.
"Yeah sure, cause you treated him real good." I said rudly.
"Shut up." He said. "You were just jelous of us."
"Stop it. Now." Lisa said.
The nurse opened the door and the three of us walked in. I started crying. He looked horrible.
"Don't cry." David mumbled.
"A motorcycle?" Lisa asked, then started to cry.
"Who's was it?" I asked.
"Motorcycle?" Daniel asked. "You're terified of them."
For some reason David smiled when he was Daniel.
"It was a bad idea." David said.
Daniel practically pushed me to the side and held David's hand.
"Enos is on his way." I said.
"Why?" David asked.
"Because he cares about you." I said.
A tear rolled down David's cheek. "This is too much for him." The nurse said. "He's in a lot of pain."
"He doesn't have to come." David said.
"He wanted to." I said.
"Okay." He said.
"He needs rest." The nurse said. She lead us back out of the room. "You can come back and see him at 9AM tomorrow morning."
"He's my Son." Lisa said crying.
"I understand that, ma'am." She said. "I'll keep you posted on any changes."
"What a bitch." I said as the nurse walked away.
"Hey." Todd said. "Sorry, I got a little lost."

Christina said...

"We can't see him until tomorrow morning." I said, crying.
"You can stay with me. I live closer then you do." Todd said.
"Okay. I want to stay here for a while though." I said, and sat down. Lisa sat down next to me.
"So, he has a new boyfriend?" She asked.
"Yeah. They met when we went back to my hometown in Texas." I told her. Todd was sitting on the other side of me, and handed us coffee.
"Where did Sam and Tina and everyone go?" I asked.
"They are picking up food." Todd said. Daniel came and sat across from us.
"Enos?" He asked.
"Yes, Enos." I told him.
"What kind of name is that?" He asked.
"It's a name for a better man then you." I said, bitterly.
"Hey, You don't know the whole story!" He said.
"You know what, you can just-" I started to say, but Lisa interrupted me.
"Please. Just set this aside for right now." she said. I felt guilty.
"Sorry." I told her. I sighed. It was not going to be a pretty sight when Enos arrived.

Sarah said...

"You better be nice to him when he gets here." I said.
The next half hour was pretty quiet. We all ate tacos from Taco Bell, then went out seperate ways. Lisa, Todd and I waited for Enos. And apartently Daniel was waiting too.
"Ella?" A man asked.
"Yes." I said standing up.
He smiled. "David would like to see you. He's been bugging us to let you in." He laughed.
"Okay." I said giggling.
"Right this way." He said. I followed him down the hall and back to David's room. He let me in. "Ten minutes." He told David.
"Thank you." David said.
The doctor left and I walked over to him. "Hey you." I said.
He smiled. "Is Enos here?"
"Not yet. I'm waiting here for him though." I said.
"Don't let him get a hotel. Set him up in my room." He said.
"Okay." I smiled.
"Tell Danny I'll call him when I get back home." He said.
"Why would you call him at all?" I asked. "Nevermind. Sorry. Don't answer that. You don't need anymore stress."
"It's okay. I don't like Todd." He said.
"What?" I asked. "Why?"
"He gets all your time now." He said.
"Davey, don't worry about anything right now. Just try to get better, okay?" I said. "We'll talk about this when you get home."
"You gonna be there to take care of me?" He asked.
"Of course." I said. "Enos will be there for ya too and your Mom."
"I don't need my Mom's help." He said.
I put my hand over his. "Just worry about you right now. Everything else we'll take care of later." I said.
"Okay." He said.
"I'll see you tomorrow, okay? Try and get lots of rest." I said. I kissed his forehead and left. Enos was walking in as I was walking out of the room.
"Is he in there?" He asked. I gave him a hug. He looked so worried. I looked around for any nurses or doctors. "Peak in and say hi." I told him. He walked into the room and I stood by the door to keep watch. He was only in there for about two minutes before he came back out. "He fell asleep talking to me." He said laughing. "Looks like he's gonna be okay."
"Yeah. He'll be fine." I said smiling. "Okay, I gotta take you over to our apartment so you can get settled in David's room."
"Enos?" Daniel asked walking up to us.
"Yeah." Enos said.
"Nice to meet you." Daniel said shaking his hand. "I'm a friend of Dave's."
"Pleasure." Enos said smiling.
"So, you two are pretty close then I hear." Daniel said.
"Uh, yeah." Enos said.
"Okay." I giggled. "Lets go."
"See ya." Enos said.
I grabbed Todd. He took us to my car, then Enos and I went to the apartment.

Christina said...

“He looked horrible.” Enos said, and sat down on the couch.
“I know. But the swelling will go down, and the cuts will heal.” I told him.
“A motorcycle?” He asked. I shrugged.
“He said it was his friends. I didn’t even know he knew how to ride one.” I said.
“He told me he hated dangerous stuff like that.” Enos said. “You saw how nervous he was just off roading.”
“I don’t know. Let me make sure David’s room is acceptable.” I said, and got up. I made his bed up and picked up some laundry that was laying around.
“All ready!” I shouted to Enos. He walked back with his bag, and set it down on the floor just inside the doorway.
“Daniel is his ex, isn’t he?” He asked.
“Yeah.” I sighed. “Or a very big mistake if you look at it through David’s eyes.” I told him.
“Why did they break up?” Enos asked.
“Well, if you ask Daniel, he’d say its because of me. But, it turns out Daniel is a big liar that doesn’t like having one partner at a time.” I explained.
“Ahhh. I see.” He said.
“Well, it’s getting kind of late. Food is in the kitchen, towels in the hall closet, and extra blankets in David’s closet on the top shelf.” I told him.
“I know. I was just here, remember?” He asked.
“Oh yeah. Sorry.” I said, and laughed.
“Why would Daniel blame you for their break up?” he asked.
“Because I love David. And I’ll be honest with you, because I know you want me too. I have feelings for him that run a lot deeper then just friends. But, as you know, I’m not exactly his type.” I said. Enos smiled.
“Do you still feel that way?” He asked. He looked nervous.
“Part of me always will. But don’t worry about a thing. You’re one of the better things to happen to David.” I said. He smiled again, and hugged me good night. I went to bed, but I couldn’t sleep. I kept thinking about David, and crying.

Sarah said...

I layed there for a few hours and decided to get a midnight snack. Enos was laying on the couch watching TV. "Having trouble sleeping too?" I asked.
"Yeah." He said sitting up. He smiled. "Sorry. I didn't wake ya, did I?"
"Oh no you're fine." I said smiling.
"I guess I'm just worried." He said.
I sat down next to him on the couch. "Me too." I said trying not to cry.
"I didn't keep you from Todd, did I?" He asked.
"Nah. I was going to stay with him, but it's okay." I said.
"I'm fine here alone if ya want to stay with him." He said.
"No. I'll stay with you." I said smiling.
"Good." He said.
"So, you and David tell eachother everything hu?" He asked.
I giggled. "Yeah."
"Tell me some things I don't know." He said.
I laughed.
"Does he have any weird habits or anything?" He asked.
"He buys a new toothbrush every week." I said. "He says it's gross to use the same toothbrush for very long."
He laughed. "Maybe I should buy him a bunch of toothbrushes. . ."
"Oddly, he would love that." I said. We both laughed.
"Done." He said.
I giggled.
"What else?" He asked.
"When he goes out to Portland to visit his little brother, he smokes pot. A LOT." I said cracking up.
"Really? Wow." He said laughing. "I couldn't see him doing that."

Christina said...

“Yeah. He acts different around his little brother. It’s so funny. Let’s see, what else…” I said, and thought about other things. I started laughing.
“What?” He asked.
“You know how some people like smoking after sex?” I asked.
“He doesn’t smoke does he?” he asked.
“No, but he loves eating ice cream right after. Even if it’s just a bite.” I said.
“Is that where he goes?” He asked.
“Probably.” I said, and we both started laughing.
“Come on, what else?” He asked.
“He’s going to kill me just for telling you those things.” I said.
“Did he tell you how his parents found out he was gay?” I asked.
“No.”
“Well, he was high school and practicing for the school play-“
“He didn’t tell me he was into theater.”
“He’s not.” I explained. “The guy he liked was. David was reading the lead female role, and they started kissing. Well, they kept practicing that part, and eventually it was no longer just practicing for the play. There were really into it, and then his parents walked in his room.”
“Oh no!” Enos said, laughing.
“I know! He tried to say he was just reading the part, but his parents didn’t buy it. They said they always knew, and were just waiting for him to tell them.” I said. Enos was laughing so hard.
“What play was it?” He asked.
“Romeo & Juliet…did you even have to ask?” I said. He started laughing even harder.
“I’m quoting that play when he gets better!” He said.
“He is going to KILL me!” I giggled.
Just then there was a knock at the door. I got up and answered it. It was Josh Carter.
“Oh. Hi.” I said.
“Hey, is David around?” He asked.
“Uh no-“
“He was supposed to pick me up from a party. I let him borrow my bike.” He said.
“Oh no.” I said.
“What?” He asked.
“He was in a bad accident. He’s in the hospital.” I told him.
“Oh my God! Is he okay? I mean, I was just with him-“
“He’ll be okay.” I interrupted before Enos heard him say something.
“Where is he staying? Can I see him?” He asked.
“Not yet.” I lied. “I’ll let him know you want to stop by. He can call you when he’s up to it.” I told him. He looked in the apartment and saw Enos.
“Oh, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to interrupt!” He said.
“What?” I asked. Then I realized he must of thought Enos and I were together. “Oh, no, you aren’t.” I said. I just wanted him to leave. Finally he left, and I closed the door.
“Who was that?” Enos asked.
“An old friend of his.” I told him.
“The motorcycle was his?” He asked.
“I guess so.” I said.

Sarah said...

"That sucks." He said.
"Yeah it does." I said.
"It's weird that he came over so late." He said.
I shrugged. "He was probably worried, plus it was his bike."
"True." He said. He stood up. "Well, I think I'm gonna try and get some sleep."
"Me too." I said smiling. I gave him a hug and went back to my room. I sighed. "David David David." I said to myself.

Christina said...

I went to bed, and got up early the next morning. I wanted to get back to the hospital. When I got up to take a shower, Enos was already up watching the news.
“Morning.” I said.
“Morning.” He said.
“I’m going to take a shower and then we can head over to the hospital if you want.” I told him.
“Yeah, sounds good.” He said, still looking at the TV. I could tell something was wrong.

Sarah said...

I took my shower and went back to my room to get dressed. I just threw on some light jeans and a plain red t-shirt.
"Ready?" I asked.
"Yeah." He sighed as he stood up. He turned off the TV.
"Everything okay?" I asked.
"Yeah." He said, not convincing me.
I just smiled. We went to the hospital and up to David's room.
"Good Morning." Sam said when we walked in. He was sitting next to David and holding his hand. "Doc said he keeps improving." He said smiling.
"Good." I said. He stood up and gave me a hug, then shook Enos' hand. David just looked at us.
"The rascal still won't say much though." Sam said. "He's highly medicated though."
"How you feelin, Davey?" I asked.
"Shitty." He replied.
"Josh stopped by." I said.
"I talked to him this morning." He said.
"Oh okay." I said.
"Well, buddy." Sam said. "I've gotta get going."
"Bye." David said.
It got quiet once Sam stepped out of the room. "Time to change your bedding." A nurse said walking into the room. A few other nurses came in behind her.
"I'll have to ask you to stand behind the curtain." One of them told Enos as she flung the curtain in front of him and around the bed. I looked at David confused. One of the nurses grabbed a new gown and started undressing him. I rushed behind the curtain and stood next to Enos. I felt awkward and didn't know what to do. I could tell he was even more upset.
"Wanna grab some coffee?" I asked.
He just shook his head no. I smiled at him and put my hand on his back. I scratched his back a little. "Everything will be okay." I said.
He walked out of the room and I followed him. "Ella May, did he ever go out with Sam or Josh?" He asked.
"No."
"I kept getting all these ridiculous thoughts in my head." He said.
"I'm sorry, sweetie." I said.
He sighed. "I just hope he's okay."
"He'll be fine. You heard Sam. He keeps improving." I said.
"I know, I know." He said. "Lets get some coffee."

Christina said...

I giggled.
“What?” he asked.
“I thought you didn’t want coffee.” I said.
“Shut up Ella May.” He said, and pushed me. We got coffee and then walked back to David’s room. Daniel was sitting next to David with a stack of comic books and magazines.
“Oh great.” I thought in my head.

Sarah said...

"Hey guys!" Daniel said smiling really big.
"Hey. . ." I said.
David smiled when he saw us.
"They lowered his dosage." Daniel told us. "He's wakin' up a bit."
"Come here." David said gesturing for Enos to walk over to him. Enos looked at me and I smiled. He walked over to David. "I'm glad you're hear." He said to Enos.
"You want some ice chips?" Daniel asked standing up. Just then the door opened. I looked up and could not beleive my eyes. It was Josh.
"Oh dear." I said.
"Oh my god." Josh said when he saw David. David looked at me with big eyes and I couldn't help but laugh. David closed his eyes. I could tell he was pretending to fall asleep and I took it as a signal.
"Looks like it's nap time." I said grabbing my purse.
"I'll stay with him." Josh, Enos and Daniel all said at the same time.
"May I speak to David alone for a second?" I asked.
They all stepped out of the room and David opened his eyes.
"What do you want me to do?" I asked.
"Tell Josh you'll give him a call when I wake up." He said. "Cause I do want to see him."
"Okay. . ." I said.
"I want Enos to stay with me." He said.
"Aww you do?" I asked smiling.
"Of course." He said.
I giggled. "What do I tell Daniel?" I asked.
"Just have him come by later tonight." He said.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
He just shrugged.
"Do not hurt Enos, David." I said.
"I won't." He said.
I left the room and grabbed Enos to let him know that David wanted him to stay.

Christina said...

Josh was a little confused, and Daniel looked upset. I sighed and went to the waiting room. Lisa walked in, and waved to me.
“How is he?” She asked.
“He still looks horrible. But he is more awake now.” I told her.
“Oh, I hope my baby boy doesn’t scar!” She said.
“Even if he does, the only cuts visible on his face are small. And the swelling and bruising will eventually go away.” I told her.
“I hope so. What about his leg?” She asked.
“I don’t know, I haven’t seen it.” I told her.
“My poor boy.” She said. “I’m going to go see him.” She walked off before I could tell her Enos was in there.

Sarah said...

I ran after her and into David's room. He was introducing Enos to his Mom. Enos and David both looked nervous.
"I'd like to have you over for dinner tonight." She told Enos.
"I'm actually suppose to be taking Enos out tonight." I blurted out lying.
"Thank you." David mouthed to me.
I just smiled.
"Oh, well what about tomorrow night?" She asked Enos as she adjusted his collar on his shirt.
"Ma." David laughed.
"Just fixing it." She said.
"Good Morning." A doctor said walking into the room. "I'm Dr. Smythe. How are you feeling?" He asked David as he placed his palm on David's forehead.
"Tired." David said.
"Everything is looking really good." He said. "You can leave today if you have 24/7 supervision at home."
"24/7? He asked.
"Yup." Dr. Smythe said. He jotted down a few things on his clip board. "Is that possible?" He asked looking at us.
"I can only stay for a week." Enos said.
"He's got a lot of friends. I'm sure we can manage that." I said.
"I need it to be guarnteed. Can I keep you in charge?" He asked me. I looked at David.
"He's going to need help with everything, including bathing." Dr. Smythe said.
"Oh um. . ." I hesitated. I doubted that Enos would want me bathing David.
"I can do that. I am his mother afterall." Lisa said.
"No, Ma." David said. "You're not giving me baths."
"Why not?" She asked.
"I'm a grown man." He said.
"You would rather have your friends do it?" She asked.
He sighed and looked at me.
"I promise you Dr. Smythe. David will have 24/7 supervision." I said.
"Alright. I'll send in a wheelchair to wheel you out to your car and I'll send you home with crutches." He said.
"Thank you." I said.
Dr. Smythe walked out of the room. Lisa was all upset because David didn't want her giving him baths.
"Enos will help me with that." David said.
"What about when he leaves? Then who will do it?" She asked.
"I don't know. Maybe Daniel." He said.
"What?" I asked.
"Can we just drop this for now?" David said.

Christina said...

Enos drove us home so I could go over all the paperwork. There was so much that had to be done! Everything had to be monitored. His pain meds, antibiotics, anti-inflamatory, and various other meds had to be monitored and distributed several times a day. The dressings on his leg had to be changed twice a day, along with an ointment applied. We had to watch all his cuts, and the incision on his leg to watch for swelling, and possible infection. He couldn’t soak his leg in water at all. I was still trying to figure out how we would avoid that. There was so much to go over and it was giving me a headache. I figured I’d go over it with Enos once David’s mom left. We would need a schedule set up. It would be way to overwhelming for one person to handle.

Sarah said...

Enos made a comfortable spot on the couch for David to sit and watch TV. We were told to have him sitting up for at least 4 hours each day. He was still too weak to walk very well, so they didn't even want him walking on his own for another week or so. Enos and I sat down together and put together a chart. We called all of his friends to let them know that he was home, but we came up with visiting hours so no visits got in the way of anything, including his rest. We also threw a few of them in the chart, so Enos and I could have breaks. Sam offered to do all the grocery shopping for us and he insisted on paying for it all. I made dinner and we all sat down on the couch to eat while we watched TV.
"You didn't include my Mom in your chart, did you?" David asked.
"Two afternoons a week, she's going to be bringing you lunch." I said. "I'm gonna have to be back at work again tomorrow, so Enos' breaks will be at lunch."
David's eyes started to tear up and he shook his head.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
He started crying. I put my arms around him gently and he cried on my shoulder. "Hey now." I said.
He pulled away and layed his head back slowly. He wiped his eyes.
"Look at what I did." He said. "I can't fucking walk and everyone's schedule was changed to come bathe me."
"David, sweetie, we all WANT to help." I said.
"Everyone offered." Enos saidm taking his hand. "We didn't even have to ask."
He looked at me. "Is Daniel helping?" He asked me.
"No. . ." I said.
"Why?" He asked.
"Davey, let's not get worked up about silly things." I said.
"Did you tell him I'm home?" He asked.
"No, I didn't." I said.
"Get me the phone." He said. He looked so angry. "GET ME THE PHONE!" He shouted.
"Geez!" I said. I got up and handed him the phone.
He leaned forward and tried to get up himself. Enos and I jumped up to help him. "Take me to my room and then leave me alone." He told us.
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"You heard me." He said.
Enos and I helped him into his bed, then Enos walked out of the bedroom.
I sat down on the bed next to him and he just ignored me. He called Daniel and started talking to him. It really pissed me off. He was talking and laughing with Daniel. I could see how he would be happy that Daniel was wanting to help out, but why was he showing him all this appreciate and being disrespectful to everyone else?

Christina said...

“Is he upset with me?” Enos asked when I walked back out.
“I don’t think so. I think he just embarrassed you have to see him like this.” I told him.
“This is going to be tough, isn’t it?” He asked.
“Very. I have a feeling he’s going to make it difficult.” I told him. Enos sighed.
“What’s with Daniel?” He asked.
“I don’t know.” I told him.

Sarah said...

We just sat there watching TV for a while.
"Ella!" David shouted.
"Yeah?" I asked. I got up and went to his room.
"Mind if Danny comes over?" He asked.
"Yes, I do mind." I said.
"Why are you being like this?" He asked. I closed the bedroom door and walked over to him.
"You have a boyfriend in the other room that cares about you A LOT." I said. "You are totally disrespecting him."
"Well, you're leaving Danny out of everything." He said.
"I'll let him in as much as you'd like me to. But, don't leave Enos out anymore." I said.
"I'm sorry. I won't." He said.
"Enos!" I called out. He peaked into the room. "Come in." I said.
He walked in.
"You wanna help me get cleaned up?" David asked him.
He smiled. "Sure."
"I'll put our leftovers in the fridge for later." I said.

Christina said...

I was putting everything away when I heard David scream. I ran to the bathroom.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“I was trying to help David into the tub, and banged his leg.” Enos said.
“Are you okay?” I asked David.
“Fine.” He said, looking really angry.
“I’m sorry.” Enos said.
“Let’s just get this over with.” He said.
“Okay, you know what? Why don’t you just have your ex take care of then. Or your girlfriend.” Enos said, then looked at me. He turned and left. We heard the front door open then close

Sarah said...

"Get out." He said.
"Just let me help you." I said.
"Just get out!" He shouted.
I started crying and left the bathroom. I slammed the door and went to my room. I didn't know what to do. I sighed and went back out to the living room. I picked up David's phone and called Daniel.
"See. I knew you'd be calling me back." Daniel said when he answered the phone.
"What?" I asked.
"Ella?" He asked.
"Yes."
"What's wrong? Did something happen?" He asked.
"I just need your help with David." I said.
"I'll be right there." He said and hung up. He sounded so worried. I walked to the bathroom and tapped the door lightly. "Daniel's on his way." I said.
"Why?" He asked angrly.
"So he can help you." I said.
"Yeah." He said. "Screw things up more."
"Excuse me!" I shouted. I opened the door. I was so mad!
"Get out!" He yelled.
He was laying back in the tub with his leg resting on the side of it.
"How am I screwing things up more?" I asked.
"Danny shouldn't be here." He said.
"Yeah I know that." I said.
"Then why would you call him?" He asked.
"He makes you happy." I said.
"He helps me escape from everything. That's what he does." He said. "Call him back and tell him I'm fine, then please go find Enos."

Christina said...

“You are being ridiculous!” I told him.
“Why?” He asked.
“I know what happened to you is horrible, and I’m sorry. But you are being a jerk!” I said.
He didn’t say anything.
“What is going on with you David? You haven’t been yourself in weeks.” I asked. He just stared at his leg.
“DAVID!” I shouted.
“What?” He shouted back.
“Talk to me damn it!”
“I like you Ella! FUCK.” He yelled.
“What?” I managed to ask after a minute.
“I. Like. You.” He said.
“I don’t understand.” I told him, and he sighed.
“I like Enos. He’s amazing, but a lot of me dating him comes down to me trying so hard to not have feelings for you. I mean I shouldn’t. You aren’t exactly my type Ella.” He explained.
“What about all this mess with Josh and Daniel?” I asked.
“I guess the same thing. As soon as Enos was gone I had to find some other way to try change this.” He said.
“I think the medicine is just-“
“DAMN IT ELLA! It’s not the fucking medicine!” He shouted, and I jumped. I didn’t know what to say.
“I’ll be right back. I’ll call Daniel to tell him to forget it, then find Enos.” I said.
“No need to find me.” Enos said from behind me.
“Oh shit.” I mouthed, then turned around.
“I should go.” Enos said, then walked to David’s room. I just stood there. I didn’t know what to do!
“I like Enos, he is probably the perfect guy for me.” David said.
“But?” I asked.
“But, he’s not you.” He said.
“This is crazy.” I told him. “I’ll be right back.” I walked to the living room to call Daniel back and tell him nevermind. I stepped outside and called. He seemed annoyed but said he would just stop by the next day. On my way back in Enos was standing in the living room with his stuff.
“Where are you going?” I asked.
“Home. I’ll stay in a hotel tonight.” He said.
“No! You can stay here. It’s fine!” I told him.
“No it’s not. I knew how he felt. I just wish he would have told me instead of messing around with other people.” He said, and picked up his bag.
“Enos, please don’t go!” I pleaded.
“I’ll see ya around Ella May.” He said, then left. I walked to the bathroom, and sat down on the toilet. David was crying.
“Come on. Let’s get you in bed.” I told him.

Sarah said...

"No." He said.
"Why are you refusing everyones help?" I asked.
"Because I don't need it." He said.
"Yes you do, David." I said.
"No, I don't. Would you please just leave me be?" He said. "You have no idea how humiliating this all is."
I just nodded. I went to my room and layed back onto my bed. I just layed there and cried for at least an hour. I decided to call Vicky. I was worried about Enos. I explained to her what happened and she was very upset. I was glad that she didn't blame me though. I hung up with her and went to check on David. He was asleep in his bed. I called Jamie to meet up for some drinks. She said she'd pick me up in a half hour, so I went to my room to get ready.

Christina said...

When I heard her knock on my door, I shouted for her to hang on. I went into David’s room, and he was still asleep.
“David.” I said. He didn’t move.
“DAVID!” I shouted. He still didn’t move. I walked over and shook him, but he wouldn’t wake up.
“DAVID!” I shouted one more time. I turned on the light, and he didn’t look so good. He was real pale, and felt really hot.

Sarah said...

"Jamie!" I screamed. She came running in.
"Oh my god!" She said. She pulled her phone out and called 911.
David opened his eyes and just stared at me.
"Just let me sleep." He said slurring. He sounded drunk and he looked so out of it. We heard sirens within minutes. Jamie opened the door and paramedics rushed in and took David away.
Jamie and I sat in the waiting room for an hour before we found out anything. We jumped up when we saw his doctor walking towards us.
"David overdosed on DepoDur prescription pills." He said. "We had to give him a shot. He should be good to go in a few hours."
"Okay." I said.
"He will also be admitted to an addiction center and counciling." He said.
"Addiction center?" I asked.
"It's all right here." He said. "He'll have to stay at this location for two weeks. They have nurses on location as well, so don't worry. He will be in good hands."
"Fuck." I sighed trying not to cry.
"We called his Mother and she will be picking him up." He said.
"Can we see him?" I asked.
"He doesn't want to see anyone." He said. "I'm sorry."
I turned to Jamie as the doctor walked away. She hugged me. "Let's just hang out at my place." She said.
I just nodded. She put her arm around me and we walked out to her SUV.

Christina said...

“This whole thing is just ridiculous.” I said in the SUV. I started crying.
“Hey, it will be okay. It’s just rough right now.” She said, and rubbed my leg.
“I know. I just don’t even know what to think anymore!” I said. Suddenly my phone rang. It was Todd.
“Hello?” I answered. I tried not to sound like I was crying, but it didn’t work.
“Are you okay? What’s wrong?” He asked.
“Just….I’m okay.” I told him.
“You don’t sound okay.” He said.
“Did you need something?” I asked.
“I was wondering if we could hang out.” He said.
“Not tonight. I’ve got to go.” I told him.
“Oh. Okay.” He said. He sounded confused.
“Bye.” I told him and hung up.

Sarah said...

"I promise everything will be okay." She said.
I just stared out the window quietly as she drove to her house. She had a little townhouse with her cousin, Marsha.
"Mar's at her boyfriends right now. She'll probably be back later tonight though." She said as we pulled up in front of the house.
"Okay." I said.
We got out of the SUV and went into her house. She poured made us each a long island iced tea right away and we started drinking. She turned some music on lightly.
"I was over him, Jamie. I was actually over him." I said. "Then he tells me this. It HAD to be the meds."
"Possibly." She said.
I sighed.
"Well, he's gone for a couple weeks." She said. "I would just go about my normal life."
"He's a huge part of my normal life." I said.
"Ella, there are so many things you are continously telling you want to do." She said. "Do some of them for once. Seriously."
"I wish." I said.
"I'm serious." She said. "I've got the decorating covered. Go get away for a while."
"Alone?" I asked.
"You always say you wish you were more independent." She said. "Force yourself to be."
I shrugged.
"I know you can do it." She said.
"I was attempting that when I moved here. It didn't work." I said.
She pulled out her day planner and flipped through it. She handed me a business card. "That's Mona." She said.
"Your best friend?" I asked.
"Yup. You're going to San Diego and you're going to stay with her." She said. "Go pack. I'll make your arrangements."
"What?" I asked.
She stood up, grabbed my hand and pulled me up. "Go." She said.
I laughed. "Jamie!"
"You're going to the beach." She said. I gave her a strange look. "You're going."
My heart started racing. She handed me the keys to her SUV. "Come back when you're done packing." She said. "Go."
I laughed and took the keys from her. I went home and packed up two bags, which was way less then I would normally pack. I drove back to Jamie's and right away, she was driving me to the airport.
"You're going to thank me for this later." She said.
I smiled. "I'm scared."
"I love you." She said as we pulled up at my terminal. I reached over and gave her a hug. "Go relax. Enjoy the beach. The weather is perfect right now. Her house is right on the beach. She'll be there to pick you up when you land."
"You're insane. This is insane." I said.
She laughed. "Have fun."
I climbed out of the car and walked into the airport to get my ticket that was waiting for me.

Christina said...

Everything happened so fast, I was on the plane in no time. I couldn’t believe what I was doing. I was so excited, until a very large man came and sat next to me. I had the window seat, and he was sitting in the isle seat, so that we had an empty seat between us. However, he was so large, he was still crowding into my space! He even looked like he had a toupee!

Sarah said...

We were served breakfast as soon as we were in the air. After that, I just rested my head back and tried to ignore the smell coming from the man next to me. He kept clearing his throat too and making gross sounds. I was so happy when we landed. Mona was there waiting for me. She was excited to see me. She ended up being a very cool person to hang out with. I stayed with her for two weeks in her house right on the beach. It was beautiful there! Everything was amazing! I got to just the right amount of relaxing and partying that I needed. I hooked up with Monda's cousin, Johnny several times too. I just felt so free for once and that trip was exactly what I needed. I was kind of dreading going back home. I knew David was back too. It was strange, but I hadn't even missed him. I was too busy and having way too much fun to miss anything back at home. I had Jamie pick me up from the airport. It was funny how excited she was to see me. She ran over and hugged me, forcing me to drop half of my bags.
"Whoa!" She said laughing. "You didn't leave with five bags."
"I bought a lot of stuff." I said.
"You look exhausted." She said.
"I am."
She laughed and picked up a few of my bags. "Lets get you home." She said.
She drove me home and walked me in.
"Bye." She said smiling. "See you at work tomorrow."
"See ya. Thanks for everything." I said.
She smiled. "I want to know every detail tomorrow." She giggled.
I laughed. "I've got a lot to tell." I said.
She laughed and walked out the door. I set my bags down. I didn't hear David, so I went to his room and peaked in. He was sound asleep in his bed. He had his knee wrapped up lightly and it looked so much better. I debated whether or not to wake him up. I heard the front door open and jumped. I peaked out quietly.
"Oh." I said confused. Enos was walking in with groceries.
"Hey, yer back." He said.
"Yeah." I said smiling.
"Wow. Look at you all tan." He said.
I giggled. "I feel amazing."
"And you look amazing." He said.
I walked over to him and helped him unload all the groceries.
"Dave's doin' a lot better." He said.
"Good." I smiled.
"Yeah. Ella May, I was such a mess there for a couple of days before he called me." He said. "He was cryin' and tellin' me how horrible he felt. . ."
"Aww." I said, almost tearing up.
"We're happy. We're good." He said. "His mood totally took a turn for the better when he got off his meds."
"Good. I'm so glad to hear that." I said.
"You got laid." He said laughing.
"What?" I asked.
"Look at you gloatin'." He said.
I giggled. "Oh stop. I did not have sex."
He laughed, "Alright. . ."

Christina said...

“I’m serious!” I said.
“And a bad liar.” He said, laughing. I glared at him and he laughed more.
“Anyway, You can wake up David if ya want too. He’s been out since I left an hour ago.” He said.
“Okay, I will.” I said.
“Just one thing though.” He said.
“Yeah?” I asked.
“He lost his job over all of this, and he doesn’t like talking about it. Apparently he lost his job just prior to his accident. Just don’t mention any of that, ya hear?” He asked.
“I hear ya. Don’t worry about nothin’.” I told him. He smiled, and I walked back to wake up David.

Sarah said...

"Oh Davey." I giggled. I climbed onto his bed and sat next to him. He was laying on his back, so I put my hand on his stomach. "Dave." I said.
He opened his eyes, then blinked a bunch of times. "Ella." He said yawning.
"Hey. How you feelin?" I asked.
"Okay." He said.
"You look a lot better." I said.
"I am." He said. He sat up slowly.
"I'm glad." I said.
He gave me a look of disgust.
"What?" I asked.
"Don't act like you care." He said.
"I'm not acting." I said.
"You left and didn't call once." He said.
"I had to get away." I said.
"Because the man you love loves you back?" He asked. He turned to his side and grabbed his crutches. He stood up.
"So it wasn't the medicine. . .?" I said.
"It's complicated." He said.
"Explain." I said.
"I'm gay." He said.
"I know that." I said frustrated.
"That would be a bit of a problem, don't you think?" He said.
I shrugged.
"Don't be naive." He said. He left the room. I sighed and followed him out.
"I'm making chilli." Enos said.
David sat down on the couch and placed his crutches against the side of the couch.
"Todd stopped by like 50 times while you were away." David said annoyed. "You probably should have answered your phone."
"I was away on vacation!" I shouted.
"It's not the first time you've run off, Ella May." Enos said.
"Enos, can it!" I said. "You don't even know me."
"Hey!" David said.

“I’m sorry! I had to get away!” I shouted.
“Why? I’m sorry I was an ass! But I needed some support from you, and you left! You FUCKING left!” He shouted.
“You are the one that wouldn’t let me see you!” I shouted back.
“No, I wouldn’t let you check me in. That was something I felt like I wanted my mother for.” He said. I suddenly felt horrible.
“I just wanted to be spontaneous.” I said.
“Fine. But you picked a pretty shitty time to do that. And spontaneous doesn’t mean you don’t have to let your friends know.” He said.
There was a knock on the door. Enos answered it. It was Todd.
“Hey, you are back. Thanks for calling.” He said, when he walked in. “Can we talk?” He asked.
“Yeah.” I said, and we walked back to my room. I closed the door and sat down on my bed.
“You didn’t even tell me you were leaving. I didn’t even know where the hell you were until I called your work and Jamie told me.” He said.
“I’m sorry.” I said.
“TWO WEEKS, and you don’t even fucking call your BOYFRIEND?” He shouted.
“I needed to just get away from everything!” I shouted back.
“You needed to run away from everything. I thought I was at least a little important to you Ella.” He said.
“You are!” I said, and felt myself begin to tear up.
“No, I’m not. Apparently no one is to you.” He said.
“That isn’t true!” I told him.
“Well, it looks that way. You really hurt me.” He said.
“I’m sorry.” I told him.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were going away for two weeks?” He asked.
“I didn’t think about it.” I told him.
“Why didn’t you answer your phone, or call me?” He asked.
“I didn’t think about it. I was on vacation.” I said.
“Fine. You know what Ella, I really liked you. Did you know you missed my Birthday while you were away?” He asked.
“No.” I said.
“Yeah, I’m nineteen now.” He said.
“I’m sorry.” I told him again.
“You totally forgot, didn’t you?” He asked I nodded yes, and wiped my eyes.
“I don’t think this is a good idea.” He said.
“What?” I asked.
“Us. Bye Ella. Good luck and all that shit.” He said, and left. I didn’t bother to stop him from leaving.

A few minutes later, I heard my door open slowly. Enos peaked his head in.
"You okay?" He asked.
"I'll be fine." I said.
He walked in and closed the door behind him. He sat down next to me on my bed. "Did you have a nice trip?" He asked.
"I get it, okay?" I said.
"I feel bad." He said. "I didn't come in here to upset you."
"What are you here for?" I asked.
"To talk. Nobody even bothered to ask how your trip went." He said.
I just shrugged.
"Where'd ya go?" He asked.
"California."
"Oh that sounds real nice." He said.
I smiled. "It was."
"Did you surf?" He asked.
I giggled. "Attempted to."
He put his arm around me. "I'd like it if we were friends." He said.
"Me too." I said wiping my eyes.
"I didn't mean what I said before." He said. "I know you were goin' through a rough time."
"I didn't leave to run away." I said. "There was just so much stress at once and I couldn't handle it anymore. I needed to get away and relax."
"I know." He said. He started scratching my back. "I know." He said again.
"So, why are you and David suddenly okay?" I asked.
"We had a good long talk." He said. "About everything."
"Did he tell you what he said to me?" I asked.
"Sure did." He said.
We sat there for a few more minutes and neither of us said anything.
"Hug it out?" He asked.
I giggled and nodded. He held out his arms and I gave him a hug.

Christina said...

Unexpectedly I started crying even harder.
“What is it?” He asked.
“Todd broke up with me.” I told him.
“I’m so sorry.” He said, and hugged me tighter.
“I’ll be okay. I guess he has a right to be mad. I wasn’t expecting that though.” I said.
“Call him.” He said.
“No, that’s okay. I’m not sure we had anything anyway.” I told him.
“Someone out there’ll find out how good of a catch ya really are. Just wait and see.” He said.
“Thanks Enos.” I said, and sniffed. I wiped my eyes.
“Just relax, okay. I know ya just got back.” He said.
“Thanks.” I told him. I layed down under my blankets and just lay there thinking for a while. There was a very light knock on the door.
“Yeah?” I asked. It opened and David walked in.
“Hey.” He said, and sat at the foot of my bed. I sat up, and wrapped my arms around my legs, resting my chin on my knees.
“Enos, uh, told me about Todd. I’m sorry.” He said.
“I’m sorry I left like that.” I told him.
“I’m sorry I reacted that way. I’ve missed you so much the last two weeks, and then all I do is yell at you when you get back. That’s pretty shitty of me.” He said.
“I guess we are both sorry.” I said, and smiled.
“Yeah.” He sighed and looked down at the floor.
“So, you decided on Enos?” I asked. He shrugged.
“David!” I said, and he smiled.
“Yes, I did. I still have some lingering curiosities, but nothing more then that.” He said.
“About Daniel?” I asked.
“No. About you. But I wont bring it up again, I promise. I know it just makes things weird.” He said.
“What do you say we forget about the last few weeks. Enos told me about your job.” I told him. He looked really upset.
“Sorry I didn’t tell you sooner.” He said.
“It’s okay. We are forgetting the last few weeks, remember?” I asked, and he smiled.
“I could really use some help at work. I’m really behind at this point, I’m sure.” I told him.
“I don’t know.” He said.
“Come on David! I know it is something you like to do! I can’t pay you a steady wage, but I can give you a percentage of the profits.” I told him.
“I’m not much use right now.” He said.
“Well, we wont worry about right now. When you are well enough.” I said.
“Okay. Deal.” He said, and I smiled.

Sarah said...

"Love you." I said.
He smiled and nodded.
"Brat." I giggled.
"Love you too." He laughed.
I sighed. "Call Todd." He said as he struggled to stand up with his crutches.
"Why?" I asked.
"Whether you want to admit it or not, he made you happy." He said.
"He did, but I screwed it up." I said.
"I'm sure it's something he can move passed from." He said.
"Oh, I don't think so." I said.
He laughed. "Were you bad on your trip?" He asked.
I smiled. "I was horrible on my trip."
He smiled back, then laughed. "Tell me the worst thing you did." He said.
"I screwed Mona's cousin." I said.
"Ella!" He said laughing.
I picked up my backpack and pulled out some pictures. "Look." I said handing him a picture of Travis and I.
His eyes got big. "Wow." He said. "Understood."
I laughed.
"Well done." He said.
"Yeah, so. . . see." I said.
"Who cares. You didn't do it to hurt him. You just weren't thinking straight." He said. He looked as if he were staring off into space.
"You're talking about yourself, aren't you?" I said.
"A little bit, yeah." He said letting out a chuckle.
"I knew it." I said pointing at him.
"Lets keep our secrets AND our boyfriends." He said.
I nodded.
"Come on. Lets go watch TV." He said starting to walk away.
"Hey David?" I asked.
He turned and looked at me.
"Who?" I asked.
"Not important." He said.
"When did we stop telling eachother everything?" I asked.
"When you went out of state without saying a word to me." He said looking more hurt than ever.
I sighed.
He rolled his eyes. "Daniel." He said, then rushed out the door.
I laughed really loud. "I knew it!" I shouted.
"Knew what?" Enos asked laughing. I ran out to the living room. "I knew David used my razor for his legs!"
David cracked up right then and we all started laughing.
"Shut up." David said.
"Oh I made you somethin'." Enos said. He pulled a HUGE bouque of toothbrushes out of a bag. It looked hilarious!
"Oh my god." I said laughing.
"That is fucking awesome." David said taking it from him.
None of us could stop laughing.
"I'm a genius." Enos said.
"Yes you are." I said.

Christina said...

“So, lets hear about your trip. Pictures? Souvineirs? “ Enos asked.
“Yes! Tons! I came back with five more bags then I left with!” I said, and they laughed.
“Well, lets see everything.” David said. I smiled and ran back to my room to get everything.

Sarah said...

I grabbed a couple of my bags and drug them out to the living room. I pushed them up to the couch and sat down next to David.
"Wow." Enos said laughing.
"I know." I said as I unzipped my backpack. I pulled out some shirts and a condom flew out of the bag.
"Ella!" David laughed.
"Oh my gosh." I said. I was so embarassed. "I have no idea how that got there!"
David picked it up laughing. "Ella, there's a phone number on it!" He said.
"What?" I asked ripping it out of his hand.
I started laughing when I looked at it. Travis had written his name and number on it. He wrote, For a good time, Call Travis (Again). "Sheesh." I said.
"Whoa." Enos said laughing.
I just giggled and set it down on the coffee table. I started unfolding the shirts and showing them to David and Enos.
"This is gross and dirty." Enos said holding up a black thong.
"Give me that!" I said laughing.
"Ew, Ella." David said.
"What?" I asked.
"It says on it, It ain't gonna lick itself." David said.
"Ew! That is NOT mine!" I said.
David dropped it onto the floor.
"Did he buy ya those too?" Enos asked.
"I'll be right back." I said grabbing the condom. I was so embarassed! I went to my bedroom and picked up my phone. I dialed Travis' number.
"Oh my god!" I heard David say.
"Do I even want to know?!" I asked him laughing.
"Hello?" Travis said answering the phone.
"Hi, it's Ella." I said.
"Oh hey! How's it goin? I take it you saw my gift?" He said.
"Yeah. I was trying to show my friends some of the things I bought and it flew out of the bag when I pulled out my shirts." I said, then laughed.
"Oh, shit. I'm sorry." He said laughing.
"It's okay." I giggled.
"I left you a few other things too." He said.
"Yeah I saw." I said.
"Your friends must think I'm some weirdo." He said.
I laughed. "Nah. I think they're gettin' a kick out of it."
"Good." He said.
There was a long awkward silence.
"Well, if you're ever out here again, be sure to give me a call." He said.
"Definatly." I said.
"What in Gods name!" Enos shouted.
"Talk you later. Give me a call again some time." He said.
"Okay." I said. I felt all giddy.
He laughed. "Buh-bye."
I waited for him to hang up, then I hung up.
"What the. . ." David said.
"What?" I asked walking out of the bedroom. "Oh. . . lord." I said when I saw what David was holding up. Now I was REALLY embarassed!

Christina said...

It was a framed picture of Travis with no clothes on doing the Captain Morgan pose.
“Oh dear.” I said. I was laughing so hard.
“Wow. This guy does not seem like your type.” David said.
“Let me see it again.” Enos said, and tried to take the picture from David.
“NO!” David shouted. “You don’t get to look at his penis anymore!” He said. I was laughing so hard.
“Give me my stuff! I’ll go through the rest in my room!” I said.
“I don’t think so. This is too amusing!” David said. Enos was going through another one of my bags.
“STOP GUYS!” I shouted, laughing. Enos was reading something.
“What is that?” I asked.
“A VERY dirty letter.” Enos said.
“What? Don’t read it!” I shouted. I jumped and tried to grab it from him. He pulled away too fast though.
“Read it out loud!” David shouted.
“NO!!!!!!” I screamed.
”Dear Ella,” Enos read.

Sarah said...

"STOP!" I shouted. "I'm not kidding around anymore. Give it to me."
"Give it to her or there will be hell to pay." David told him.
"Aw man." Enos said. He folded it back up and handed it to me.
"You shouldn't be so embarassed." David said.
I stuffed everything back in the bags.
"Sorry, Ella May." Enos said.
"It's okay." I sighed. "I just want to read it first."
Enos started laughing.
"Shut up." I said trying not to laugh.
"Well according to that letter, you really showed him a good time." Enos said.
"Shut up." I said again. I smiled as I tried hard to hold in my laughter.
Enos stood up and helped me bring my bags back into my room. "We still wanna see what you got though." David said.
"I know. Let me find all of Travis' surprises first." I said. Enos laughed and left the room. I pulled out the picture again and started blushing.
"Uh, Ella!" David shouted.
"Todd's here!" Enos said. He opened my door and looked at me smiling.
"What do I say?" I whispered.
He walked in and shrugged. "Tell him you want another chance. . ." He said looking at the picture.
"Ella!" He said.
I stuffed it under my bed and went out to see Todd.

Christina said...

"Hey." He said when he saw me.
"Hey." I said.
"Can we talk?" He asked.
"Yeah." I said. I walked outside with him, and we walked around the complex.
"I'm sorry about earlier. I was just upset. Maybe I kind of over reacted." He said.
"Hey, you deserved to be upset. I could have at least told you where I was going. I'm sorry." I told him.
"Hey, it's okay. Did you have fun?" He asked.

Sarah said...

"Probably a little too much." I said. My heart started racing.
"I know you've been through a lot the past few months, Ella. But I really like you and I wish you'd let me be there for you." He said.
"I know. I'm really sorry." I said. "It was so last minute. It was planned in a couple of hours only. . ."
"Well, I'm glad you had a good time. Not sure if I want to know all the details. . ." He said.
I shrugged.
"Do I?" He asked.
I shook my head no.
"Then all is forgoten." He said. We stopped walking and he stood in front of me. He took my hands in his. "I really really like you." He said.
I smiled. "You're really sweet."
"Can I spend the night with you?" He asked.
"My room is a huge mess with all my bags and stuff. . ." I said. "Would you want to come in for a few drinks with David, Enos and I?"
"I'd like that." He said smiling.
I wrapped my arms around him and he kissed my neck. It gave me the chills and I flinched. He just laughed at me.
"Lets go." I said.
He took my hand and we walked back to the apartment.

Christina said...

“Hey! All is well?” Enos asked when we walked in.
“Yeah.” Todd said.
“Then how about a drink to celebrate?” David asked.
“Yes, please!” I said. David was sitting in the chair with his leg propped up, so I sat down on the couch, and Todd sat next to me. A minute later Enos was out with the drinks.

Christina said...

He handed us each a glass of wine. David made a really nice toast, then we sipped our wine as we talked for a while. It was so nice! I kept looking at Todd as he smiled and laughed. He was way too cute!
"Okay, Scrabble time!" Enos said.

“Scrabble? LAME!” I said.
“Lame? That isn’t nice.” David said.
“You are thinking the same thing.” I told him. He just glared at me, and I laughed.
“Fine, we can play something else.” Enos said.
“Truth or Dare.” Todd said.
“I don’t think so!” I said, and laughed.
“Why not?” He asked.
“NO! Something else.” I said.
“Fine, you come up with something.” David said.
“You hate Asshole.” I told him.
“That is what you ALWAYS want to play!” he said, and threw a pillow at me.

Sarah said...

I gave him the evil eye.
David laughed. "Truth or Dare."
"Oh really? Sure you wanna play that?" I asked.
"Do I not want to?" He asked.
"I'm pretty sure that you don't want to." I said.
He looked at Enos and smiled, then he turned to Todd. "You're being pretty quiet over there. Got any ideas?" David asked him.
"Not really." He said.
"How about I never?" I asked.
"I'm in." Enos said.
David rolled his eyes. "Whatever."
We all looked at Todd. "Sure." He said.
"You go first." David said looking at me.
"Um, I've never shoplifted." I said. All three of the guy took sips of their drinks. "What?" I asked looking at David.
David laughed. "I use to steal candy bars from the 7/11 ALL the time." He said.
"You guys are horrible." I laughed.

Christina said...

“What on earth do you need to steal?” I asked Todd.
“It’s not about needing something.” He said.
“What is it about then?” I asked.
“Uh, the thrill.” Enos said.
“Oh, what have you stolen?” I asked.
“I used to steal porn mags from the bookstore.” He said.
“What?” I shouted. Everyone was laughing.
“Geeze. Okay, David, it’s your turn.” I said.
“I have never eaten rattle snake.” He said. Enos and I both took a drink.
“EWWWWW!” He said.
“Tastes like chicken!” Enos said.
“Have you really?” Todd asked.
“Yeah. It really does taste like rattle snake.” I told him. He looked disgusted, and I laughed.
“Alright Enos, it’s your turn.” David said.
“I have never worn Loafers.” He said. David gave him a dirty look, and I laughed. He and Todd both took a drink.
“Todd?” I asked.
“My mom used to make me whenever I had to get dressed up.” He said.
“Loafers?” I asked.
“Hey, I was like 10 give me a break.” He said.
“What is your excuse?” Enos asked David.
“Oh, shut up!” David shouted. “Todd, it’s your turn.”

Sarah said...

"I've never tried ANY drugs." Todd said.
David drank, then looked at us embarassed. His face even turned pink.
"You've never tried anything?" I asked Todd.
"Should I be offended that that surprises you?" Todd asked laughing.
I just giggled.
"I'm surprised that you and Enos haven't. I mean, being from a small town and all." Todd said.
"That's what I said!" David laughed.
"A lot of them did do it, it just never appealed to me." Enos said.
"Same here." I said.
"What drugs have you tried?" Enos asked David.
David smiled. "A wise man never tells." He said.
"I've never done any drugs worse than weed." Enos said.
We all just looked at David and he took a sip. "David!" I said.
"You know who my brother is." He said laughing.
"Geez." I said. "I thought all you did was smoke pot."
He just shrugged. "I've never went skinny dipping." He said.
Enos, Todd and I all drank.
"I've never tried Heroin." I said.
"Alright I'm done with this game." David said. "You're turning into something other than a game."
"Oh come on!" I said.
"No. I'm done." He said. He struggled to stand up.
"Tell me you haven't tried it." I said.
"I can't do that." He said.
"So he's tried things out, big deal." Todd said.
"I guess." I said.
"Sit back down." Enos said laughing.
David sat back down and sighed. "I've never been with two different partners in one night." Todd said.

Christina said...

David and I both took a drink. I wish I had thought about it and just lied.
“Whoa, really?” Todd asked.
“Yeah.” I said. Enos Already knew David had, so it wasn’t a big deal.
“When?” He asked.
“Um, not important.” I told him.
“Wow.” He said. I couldn’t tell if it really bugged him or if he was just surprised.
“What?” I asked.
“I just saw you as this sweet small town girl. I guess I just didn’t expect it, that’s all.” He said.
“But you expected me to have done drugs?” I asked.
“Well, no. I mean, well yes I guess.” He said. “Who?”
“I have never been on a roller coaster!” David blurted out. He looked nervous. After all he was one of the guys I had been with on that night.
“Yes you have!” Enos said. “You told me, you got sick.”
“Oh.” He said.
“I have never slept with a gay guy.” Todd said. David, Enos, and I all drank. David and Enos looked uncomfortable.
“Enos, it’s your turn.” Todd said.

Sarah said...

"Never been caught in the act." He said.
We all laughed.
"Do you mean someone actually walking in and seeing you?" I asked.
"Yeah." He said.
None of us drank. "Wow." He said.
"You're lying." I told David. He got a confused look on his face.
"Ooooh yeah that's right." He said, then drank. He laughed. "That was how my Mom found out I liked men."
"Really?" Todd asked. "Man, talk about embarassing."
"Most humiliating moment of my life." He said. "Thanks for reminding me about it, Ella."
"My pleasure." I giggled.

Christina said...

I was glad the mood lightened up.
“I have never…..um…I don’t know. I’m done, can’t we play something else?” David asked.
“You are drunk, aren’t you?” I asked and giggled.
“No.” He said, and laughed.
“Liar!” I said.
“So are you!” Todd said.
“Am not!” I shouted.
“Are too! You keep rubbing my leg.” He said, and everyone laughed.
“Do not!” I said.
“You so do! I watched you.” Enos said.

Sarah said...

We all drank for a little while longer, then went to bed. Todd and I passed out right away.
